Meet Sarah

Wellness Coordinator

About

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the College of Charleston. After graduating, I started working as a medical assistant alongside Gene and Erin, which gave me valuable hands-on experience for about three years. I then took on a role as a clinical research coordinator at Hollings Cancer Center, where I managed clinical trials for Malignant Hematology. While the role was rewarding, balancing its demands with my family life and personal well-being became challenging. Fortunately, joining Rising Tide Wellness has been a game-changer for me. It’s been incredibly fulfilling to be part of a practice that aligns so well with my values and has brought so much positive change to my life both professionally and personally.

Why Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine resonates deeply with me because it’s the only approach that truly makes sense and has significantly impacted my own health journey. Before joining Rising Tide Wellness, I was in a challenging place both mentally and physically, struggling a year and a half postpartum. Although I was familiar with functional medicine from my previous work with Gene and Erin, it was through my experience at Rising Tide that I truly understood its transformative power. Not only has it profoundly changed my own life and health, but I’ve also seen firsthand how it has positively transformed the lives of my family and the practice members who have embraced this approach. I am committed to Functional Medicine for the long term because of the incredible results it delivers.

What is Rising Tide to you?

To me, Rising Tide Wellness embodies an innovative approach to health care that goes beyond the traditional model, focusing on treating the whole person. It’s not just a functional medicine practice; it’s a community of people who show up for themselves day in and day out to strive to be the best versions of themselves. Rising Tide is a safe place that meets people wherever they are in their health journey. For me, Rising Tide is an anchor that keeps me grounded and reminds me of the things that are important, with my health being at the top of that list.

How do you take care of yourself?

I take care of myself by striving for BALANCE in every area of my life. This means nourishing my body with healthy food, staying active through yoga, walking, and weight training, and also giving myself the rest I need when my body asks for it. I cherish time with friends and family, as well as moments of solitude to recharge. Although I love indulging in delicious foods from time to time, I make sure that my overall approach to wellness is balanced. Prioritizing self-care is essential because it allows me to be the best version of myself for the people I love. By taking care of my own well-being, I’m able to fully embrace and enjoy my roles as a wife and mother, and this makes every aspect of my life richer and more fulfilling.

What areas in your life do you see opportunities for growth?

I see opportunities for growth in every aspect of my life because I’m always striving to do better and be a better version of myself than I was the day before. One area that particularly stands out is learning to trust and listen to my own intuition, rather than being swayed by what others think I “should” be doing. This ongoing journey involves aligning my actions with what I truly believe is best for me, rather than conforming to external expectations. It’s a continuous struggle, but it’s one that I am actively working on and learning from every day.

More About Sarah!

Your family:

I was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, SC, where I was blessed with amazing parents. My dad, an entrepreneur, is the hardest-working person I know, and his dedication has inspired my own work ethic. My mom, one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, has shown me how to balance taking care of myself with caring for my family.

I’m the youngest of two siblings, with my older sister Kristin being not just a sibling but my best friend. I’ve been married to my husband Luke since 2019, and together we have a beautiful daughter, Preston. She’s everything to us and has brought so much joy and growth into our lives, teaching us something new every day. We also have a Bernese Mountain Dog named Boca, who we absolutely adore and brings so much joy and love to our family.

Favorite book:

Choosing a favorite book is tough because I have a wide range of interests. For personal development, one of my top picks is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. It’s been incredibly impactful for me. When it comes to fun reading, I’m really enjoying books by Colleen Hoover, Erin Hildebrand, Emily Henry, and Frieda McFadden. Their books are always engaging and provide a great escape for me.

Top played song on your Spotify account:

This is EVER changing but right now probably, “Pink Skies” by Zach Bryan or “Wondering Why” by the Red Clay Strays.
